Deputy Chief Whip, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi, has called for unity and tolerance as Christians celebrate Christmas.
Hon. Ogunkanmi made the call in a Christmas message to felicitate with his constituents and the Christendom in the State of Osun on the occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ.
The lawmaker representing Ayedire state constituency in State Assembly, said Christmas symbolises the celebration of the birth of a new dawn for the salvation of souls for all humanity.
While acknowledging that the occasion should be joyous with merry making, Ogunkanmi opined that if more Nigerians imbibed these ideals and virtues, and made them more evident in their daily lives, the society will be a better place.
He urged Nigerians to re-dedicate themselves to the enabling ideals and virtues of faith in God, love for others, selflessness, honesty, peaceful co-existence, tolerance and dedication to duty which Jesus Christ preached and exemplified in his time on earth.
According to him, “I urge all Nigerians to be patient and look forward to a better future. With abiding faith in Jesus Christ, all our challenges will be a thing of the past as we move to a glorious new year.
“I enjoin us to stress the importance of peace, love, generosity and unity in our teachings during this sacred period and show love to one another.”
Ogunkanmi urged residents of the State of Osun to continue their support for the government of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress APC, as it is the only platform that can bring to the people their desired yearnings and aspirations for development.
